A fakebook is a musicians resource. Paper fakebooks consists of simple melody lines in standard notation with guitar chords. Fakebooks give musicians access to a larger repertoire of tunes than they can memorize. This site goes one step farther. You can hear the tune and play along. Learning new tunes is easier and it provides a ready practice resource. If you use a program like Notation Musician (recommended), you can adjust tempo, mute voices, change key and print sheet music directly from the tunes on this site.
All titles are in the public domain. They date from the 18th, 19th and early 20th century. There are currently 548 tunes in the collection.
The MIDI are intended for use with a variable tempo MIDI player such as Notation Musician that allows you to mute voices, change key and create lead sheets.
