This tune was popular in 19th Century America under the name George Booker. It was published in Knauff's VIrginia Reels in 1839. It is related to Camp Chase which is a variant of George Booker.
Reportedly this was one of Thomas Jefferson's favorite fiddle tunes. Related to Grey Eagle.
